Convergent Networks and Sylantro Systems Complete
SIP Interoperability Testing
Sylantro's Next-Generation Business Voice Applications, Combined
with Convergent Networks' Platform, Creates New Revenue
Opportunities for Carriers
ATLANTA, June 3, 2002 - Convergent Networks, a leading provider
of next-generation voice infrastructure products, today announced
that Sylantro Systems, a leader in carrier-grade IP telephony applications,
has completed interoperability testing with Convergent Networks'
switching solution. Together, Sylantro Systems and
Convergent Networks are creating new revenue opportunities for carriers
by enabling them to offer their customers new Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP)-based services, such as Sylantro Systems' award-winning
Hosted PBX and IP Centrex applications on next-generation platforms.
Sylantro Systems is the first applications server partner to complete
SIP interoperability testing in Convergent Networks' integration
lab. Interoperability is a critical requirement in turning up these
new services, and Convergent Networks is fully committed to working
with its partners, such as Sylantro Systems, to ensure carriers
can successfully bring to market these advanced services.
"Convergent Networks' platform provides service providers
with a proven, carrier-grade solution for deploying next-gen services,"
said Dave Scarborough, vice president of strategic alliances at
Sylantro Systems. "We both market our solutions to innovative
carriers that are challenging the status quo. By providing a tested,
massively scalable solution, we can ensure that they can rapidly
deploy robust solutions that quickly generate the new revenue that
today's carriers need to succeed."
Convergent Networks' products have been deployed in carrier
networks for more than two years and are carrying over three billion
minutes per month of revenue-generating traffic, more than any other
next-generation platform. Sylantro Systems' Hosted PBX and IP Centrex
applications are actively being deployed by carriers who market
managed telephony services as a revenue-generating alternative to
traditional in-house PBXs and key systems, and the company recently
announced an industry-milestone 10,000-user mark for its IP Centrex
services.
"The promise of next-generation networks has always been about
new revenue sources from advanced services," said Carl Baptiste,
managing director of product management at Convergent Networks.
"Carriers who have successfully deployed our platform
for applications such as PRI offload and voice trunking are ready
to roll out new services such as IP Centrex that increase revenue,
and our interoperability testing with carrier-grade products from
a leader such as Sylantro Systems further enables our push to offer
advanced SIP services to our customers."
Sylantro Systems is a member of Convergent Networks' Alliance
Partner Program, which was created to further the education, development
and deployment of next-generation packet technologies in carrier
networks. The Alliance Partner Program includes access
to Convergent Networks' interoperability testing lab, participation
in educational forums on next-generation solutions such as Convergent Networks' product
family and the ability to leverage sales opportunities and co-marketing programs with Convergent
Networks.
The companies are demonstrating their product interoperability
at the SUPERCOMM 2002 trade show from June 4-6 in Convergent Networks'
booth # 20722. The demonstration features Convergent Networks' switching solution
working with Sylantro System's managed telephony product suite, c-Business, as well as advanced
mobility and access applications.
