| Convergent Networks Delivers Release 5.0 on September 1
LOWELL, Mass., September 1, 2003 - Convergent Networks ushers in the
next generation of service delivery and carrier profitability with Release 5.0 of its Unified
Network Architecture™. A significant milestone for
Convergent Networks in its mission to deliver reliable and robust switching solutions for
carriers, Release 5.0 supports multiple voice and data applications over a common IP, ATM
and TDM infrastructure.
“In a world where companies continually over promise and under deliver products
to their customers, Convergent Networks takes pride in consistently meeting deadlines and
exceeding customer expectations,” said Frank Gangi, President and CEO of Convergent
Networks. “When Convergent Networks was acquired earlier this year, we made a commitment
to release this new software by September 1 - not only did we fulfill that original promise,
but we delivered additional features and functionality.”
By providing a centralized
point of control for complex network routing decisions and distributing end-office features
to both intelligent SIP endpoints and traditional endpoints
(POTS, CAS or ISDN), the Unified Network Architecture allows carriers to deliver Class
4 and Class 5 services, including Packet Tandem, Business Voice Services, Voice VPN Services,
ATM and IP-based Long Distance Services, PRI Offload, SIP-based applications and Class
5 features.
“Today’s Convergent Networks is unequivocally focused on meeting carrier’s
needs and demands,” said Gangi. “We listen to what features our customers are
telling us they need and our product roadmap and development efforts reflect those requirements.”
